Scientific conferences are temporary forums for presenting and testing claims. They are not political membership organizations, even when the research has political or ethical implications.
A conduct policy should therefore distinguish misconduct from disagreement. Harassment, threats, retaliation, and sustained disruption are conduct problems. A disputed claim, method, citation, or theoretical framework is not a conduct problem merely because some participants find it wrong, offensive, or unfashionable.
Viewpoint neutrality does not mean every claim is equally strong. It means the rules for participation are applied without regard to the conclusion a participant reaches.
